Vintage Report

All the grape varieties on Brumont's estates experienced perfect ripening and picking conditions. The Tannat grapes have complexity with very ripe notes of black cherry and fresh red raspberry and currants. The cabernets (Franc & Sauvignon) are equally expressive, fresh and perfectly ripe. Alain says the tannins are perfect and the wines are fleshy, concentrated and have great freshness.

"The vintage 2009 is one of the very best we have known for 30 years" says Alain Brumont.

After a rainy and snowy winter, ideal weather in spring promoted fast and good development of
the foliage, contributing to successful flowering. It was ideally warm and dry in late summer through late August and September. Early ripening grape varieties were harvested at the ideal dates and they were able to wait for perfect ripeness for the late varieties.

The 2009 vintage is characterized by:

• A fast and harmonious maturation of grapes
• Ideal climatic conditions, insuring a very good health of the harvest

Early November saw the harvest for Tannat and Cabernets. The harvest took place in ideal conditions without any pressure of rain or grey rot. The sorting of grapes was simplified and thus optimized.

Every plot of land was able to be harvested at the optimal date (physiological maturity and polyphenols)
Phenolic ripening for the Tannat grapes was perfect while preserving their acidity and balance. The fruit is complex, involving very ripe notes of black cherry and fresh red fruits (raspberry, currants).

The Cabernets reached exceptional levels of maturity. Cabernet Franc is particularly expressive and gives fresh fruit and liveliness to the blends. Cabernet Sauvignon, thanks to a sharp drop in temperatures at the end of the harvest (almost to freezing point), was left until perfect ripeness occurred. Tannins are perfect and the wines are fleshy and concentrated with a great freshness.

Closing date for this offer is mid September 2010. Delivery will be late 2011 or early 2012 when the vintage is bottled and released by Brumont.
