Château Jurque Sec 2007 AOC Jurançon Sec

Silver - Concours des vins du Sud-Ouest (France)

The Jurancon Sec style is an exotic dry wine with mineral, citrus, smoky flavours, and a fleshy texture. They are much respected by wine professionals and have a reputation for some of France's most elegant and complex white wines. They are premium aromatics famous for their balance and freshness. They are quite different from the normal run of mill Sauvignons and Chardonnays. We recommend you try them.

Château Jurque is a small premium estate in the French Pyrenees mountains on the border with Spain.

The wine is a bright yellow-gold with green tints. The aromas of flowers and fruit are fine and intense. Honeysuckle, jasmine, grapefruit, citrus and fresh grapes are evident. On the palate the wine is fresh, fruity and rich with a long fleshy finish.
To enjoy this wine at its best remove it from the fridge 30 minutes before drinking. Suggested food matches are fish dishes and cold sliced meats.

13% alcohol.
Enjoy now and until 2013. Will develop in bottle.

Terroir: Château de Jurque is a 5 hectare estate run by Marion Latrille since 2000. It is located on the superb hillsides of the "Chapelle Rousse" district. Soils are a blend of argyle and limestone. The vineyards are planted on the South/Southwest exposed slopes, with Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng grape varieties

Grapes: A blend of 50% Gros Manseng and 50% Petit Manseng from the first harvest. The grapes are harvested by hand around October 20th. Harvesting at this time produces a dry Jurancon with fresh aromas and a distinctive richness.

Vinification: After a full de-stemming, the grapes undergo a pre-fermentary pellicular maceration (a process of macerating the grapes without alcohol that is used for premium wines) followed by a cautious pressing. The racking of the must occurs at low temperature, and alcoholic fermentation and 50% malolactic fermentation are initiated.

All the vinification process occurs in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine rests until the following summer before being bottled and sold.
