TROPHY Medal – Decanter 2009 'Regional French Red Over £10'
Big, bold and fruity that's a dark, intense, ruby red colour. Elegant, complex aroma, a mixture of ripe black fruits of

the forest and coffee. Supple attack, followed by soft tannins. Delicate woody notes with vanilla. This is an exceptional Madiran, powerful and complex with great depth and character - a stunning wine in words of several customers.
A smooth and intense red that’s excellent with game or strong hard cheese.
Ch d'Aydie will cellar for a long time. To enjoy the fullness and the fruit flavours let it open up by decanting it 3 or 4 hours before your dinner party.
100% Tannat from 22 year old vines. Following its Trophy award there is no more of this vintage available.

Vignobles Laplace
Terroir: 22 years old vines planted on clayey and chalky hill-sides, situated around the Château.
Cultivation: Hand picked mid September. The late picking means overripe grapes with more mature tannins (thus softer). This is fundamental to the production of elegant Madiran wines, while at the same time keeping the structure. Yield is 40 hectolitres/hectare.
Vinification: Fermentation and maceration are carried out in wooden tanks over 30 days. The 18 month elevage period is in 400 litre oak barrels to develop the wines potential. Blended in barrels before bottling 4 months later. The lees were handled using micro-oxygenation and aeration in vats enables the tannins to 'mature' and gain in elegance
